With the outer wall and side door complete all that was left was installing the garage door to have an enclosed garage. Here’s Mace cutting down Azek for the door jamb.
And with the sconces back up and the J-channel installed we were ready for siding.
Here’s a shot of the siding installed (he used a laser level to make sure it was level with the existing siding) and the first garage door panel. We ordered the garage door from Reliabilt made by Amarr at Lowes. It was a mid-grade door (triple insulated so its higher performance, Mace has knowledge about these products so he had some requirements) and we did an upgrade with the glass panels (my requirement!). We didn’t want to go too fancy with the door style (I really like the carriage look but much more expensive) because our exterior is pretty simple but wanted some character and interest.
Here’s an interior shot of the garage door with the door track installed and all the garage door panels up (we saved some $$$ installing it ourselves). You can see based on the chimney placement the garage door had to be centered this way because we were as tight as we could get to the chimney (which Mace took into account during his planning and framing stage). This took a full day to install.
And here’s a shot with the garage door opener (having a super quiet one was a requirement for Mace so we upgraded for a few extra bucks, and it is really quite) and window grids installed. The Harley was now safely out of the elements and had a home!!
With the opener installed we had a fully operational garage door! Yeah buddy!!
We still need to paint the trim and we didn’t have the interior details finished but it was a MONUMENTAL change from where we started 1 month and 24 days before. Mace had his dream of a garage and I was incredibly proud of him!!!
