Before & After Project Reveal: The Transitional Farmhouse

In the fall of 2022 I received an inquiry from my clients about working with them to redesign their home after a devastating house fire earlier that year. From our first conversation my clients had such positive, upbeat attitudes about the situation and were determined to look on the bright side. They had always planned to make some changes to their home and now they had the opportunity to completely reimagine it and make it exactly the way they wanted it.

On the main floor their main priorities were to improve their kitchen layout, change the look of their huge brick fireplace, move their laundry from the basement, create an office space, and give their under utilized sitting room a purpose. To give them everything they wanted we moved walls and gave new purpose to the old dining room and formal living room. Here's a look at the layout changes and before images of the home when they purchased it.

My clients leaned towards a farmhouse style with their inspiration images but they also liked some elements with modern clean lines. They also wanted to incorporate color throughout the space and not have everything completely neutral so I added pops of color to their fireplace built-ins and kitchen backsplash. It's easy to make seasonal changes by switching out pillows and accessories to add more color as they begin rebuilding their personal mementos. A sectional in the sunroom was really important to them in addition to being able to host a lot of friends and family. Their previously unused sitting and formal living rooms are now being used daily. Here's a look at the layout and the final results.

On the second floor we focused on reworking their existing bathrooms for a more functional layout out along with additional closet space. In the basement we added a full bathroom off their playroom that has a farmhouse feel and brings in playful pattern and color. Check out the before and after pictures of the spaces below.

I love how their home turned out and hearing how well the decisions we made really work for their family and lifestyle now that they're back in their forever home. You can check out the entire project here. If you need help making sense of a project we'd love to help you! Book your discovery call and let's start turning your dreams into reality.

Warmly,

Carrie
