Chalk Paint Bathroom Tiles

While the guys were hard at work building the deck stairs I was busy working on the hall bath update.  Just getting that wall paper down made a big improvement but getting rid of the pink tile was about to make a MAJOR difference.  I decided to use chalk paint since it adheres to services really well, which was different than what I did for kitchen backsplash.  This bathroom doesn’t get a lot of use so while I don’t expect the painted tile to look great for years to come it will make it a more inviting space to be in while we save for the gut job.  I did the wall and shower tiles first and chose simple, clean white.  I did 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear poly to seal it.  Such an improvement!!

Refresher of the before… it hurts my eyes!!

Then I moved on to the floors and did the same process, 3 coats of chalk paint and 3 coats of poly.  It started out looking a little sketchy after the first coat.

But it was looking so good by the third!  It had the chalky look but the poly gave it more of a sheen.

I was very curious about how the painted tile floor would hold up and after 10 months I can say its held up pretty good! It’s a low traffic area which helps and there are a few places where some paint has gotten chipped and you can see the tile underneath but hey, its painted tile.  It’s a much more calming space than before and totally worth taking the time to do!
