While work in the master was making progress there were a few other places that got some attention, basically out of necessity. Everyone has to change light bulbs on occasion because naturally they burn out. But for whatever reason when we went to change them out the sockets were permanently stuck (or corroded) in the fixtures!! And this happened to both the hallway and entryway fixtures. So that sent me on the hunt for new fixtures, yay!! Not that these original one’s weren’t my taste or anything…
The hallway had already been removed but it was the same style as the ones above.
I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for in the new fixtures:
Clear glass
Bronze finish without the copperish edges (we also decided this will be the door hardware color throughout the house when we get there)
Semi-flush mount in the entry way
Sconce with down-lighting above the stairs (its kinda dark at the bottom)
Either flush or semi-flush in the hallway
So I proceeded to bombard Mace with images of different styles so see which ones he gravitated towards, I want him to like everything too. I was willing to buy more expensive light fixtures (but still not crazy expensive) to get something I really liked, plus I think the fixtures in a house are what give it personality and set the tone of the room. I got all the lights from Wayfair.com (you got what I need…) and over all am really happy with them. The “entryway light” I originally bought for the hallway, but when putting them up they actually looked better switched around. The sconce doesn’t send light down the stairwell as much as I’d like but I had a hard time finding ones I liked. I didn’t go with glass or one with an arm, I think because it reminded me of the original one, but I really liked the fabric look that was a little softer. The shape of it blended into the wall nicely (maybe a little too well before we painted) and didn’t say “I’m a light” but still added some interest. And here are the new fixtures in the “entryway” and above the stairs, man look at those boring beige walls.
The hallway light was always the look I envisioned and was so excited to get it!! The proportions didn’t work that well in the entryway (it was a little small) and I didn’t want something that hung down too low because the front door would open into it. I will say shopping online for lights is a little hard because you don’t fully understand the scale of something until it’s in the room. And here it is, still love it!
