Desk & Chair Update

Mace had some black and silver IKEA office furniture and since it wasn’t in the budget to buy anything new I thought I’d tie it into the office color scheme with some paint.  I’ve been using chalk paint for a few years and love that there is really no prep work that needs to be done before I start (I’m a little impatient sometimes).  Here are the pieces before.

I tried mixing my own color using country grey and coco because I didn’t see the exact one I wanted and was trying to get more in line with the coffee colored office plan.

This was my first attempt at mixing colors and I’m not so sure I got exactly what I wanted but only one way to get better!  Looks like I threw a little charcoal into… and was my sweatshirt on backwards, ha!  Guess I was ready to get started!

Here’s the file cabinet with the mixed paint color which I wasn’t so sure about.

So I added a coat of dark wax (after a coat of clear wax) to try to distress it and add more brown tones.  I had never used the dark wax before so I don’t have the best technique yet but I thought it was an improvement!

And here are the pieces after paint and distressing and they tied in much better than the black and silver would have.  And there’s my binder full of tearsheets!!
