The kitchen vent on the outside of our house is something that has bothered Mace ever since we moved in, for whatever reason he just hated it! It didn’t bother me too much and I was fine with waiting to remove it until we re-do the kitchen. But one day this spring Mace decided it was time to get rid of it. Here is the vent still installed.
First Mace had to take down the siding around the vent to get the fan. Then he had to fill the hole with insulation and patch the sheathing with plywood (and waterproof it) so no critters could get into the house. And yes that is high voltage electrical above his head…
Turns out some wasps had been making their nest in our vent, which just validated for Mace why it had to go!
And then it was time to put the siding back up (we had left over pieces of the original siding from the garage siding project so it blended in). I had to admit that it just looked so much better so it was worth the 3.5hrs to do this project, and Mace is always happier knowing he tightened up the house!
