Master Bathroom Mini Update #3

After the vanity cabinet refresh the next biggest change to the master bath was the ceiling update.  I knew I didn’t want to keep the ceiling white since I was going with a light grey color on the walls. And in such a small space I figured adding color to the ceiling would give the space more personality instead of a small, boring bathroom.  Plus now is the time to experiment since everything will get demoed in a few years anyway!  Here’s a reminder of the white ceilings and striped walls.

Aside from painting the ceiling, I also did a refresh to the light fixture which was silver and rusty. I used some left over spray paint from the ceiling fan update to spruce up the base color and I thought the white milk-glass cover would look neat against a darker ceiling. The first color I picked was the left over grey from the fireplace update. Since I was doing a light grey on the walls I figured they would compliment each other. Colors are funny sometimes in how they change in different spaces and lighting. In this space the ceiling color pulled more purple than grey. It wasn’t terrible but I wasn’t loving the result with the blue in the room.

Next I decided to go with a very dark blue/grey to pick up on the vanity cabinet and tile colors. I think Mace was a little surprised when he got back from his trip at the new color, he wasn’t expecting it to be that dark! But I think it looks so much better than a purplish ceiling and adds the personality I was hoping for.

Here’s the ceiling with the light off, you can see the light fixture adds some vintage interest to the space. This room was taking shape!!
