No More Crabapples!!

While Derek’s family was here he and his brother Brian decided to cut down the crabapple tree in the back yard (can you tell someone was excited to use his new power toy tool?).  The crabapples left a sticky mess on the patio and furniture, the roots damaged the patio, and it was hanging over the roof which Derek didn’t like so three strikes and you’re outta here!

Quite often we came home to the deer having dinner on our patio, which was kinda cute but not enough to save the tree.

But back to getting rid of those crabapples.  The guys had a lot of fun taking the new chainsaw out for a spin (cue manly grunts and tons of “awesome” comments)!!

And after a few hours all that was left of the crabapple tree was this stump.

Turns out the tree was already dying and rotting on the inside so its a good thing we cut it down instead of it falling onto our house!

Then they attacked the stump and got it closer to the ground.

We haven’t gotten around to removing the roots yet so its still hanging out (and growing weeds!!) but I have a feeling its days are numbered!!
