Today is the one year mark of closing on our house!! Moving weekends aren’t always the most fun but I’d say we were pretty excited to start living together and begin work on the house. First up, pulling up old roots and planting new ones!! Our house was vacant for a few months while on the market which gave the weeds PLENTY of time to grow during the summer. It was pretty insane how fast they grew and multiplied from the time we first looked at it to closing!! Here’s a before shot.
So after unloading all our stuff we started attacking the yard and I’m so glad we didn’t wait because it made such a big difference. Here are some pics of us working and how many weeds we actually pulled and hauled away, A TON!!
So here’s an after and you can actually see the house and use the walkway. Obviously Koburn thought it was a great change too!
Mace’s dad was in town that weekend to help us (he’s in the above pic) and decided to buy us a beautiful Japanese Red Maple, which we planted by the front corner of the house together and I’m happy to report it’s still alive! It’s a slow grower (about 10-15 years before fully grown) so hopefully in a few years it will be bigger and add some visual interest to our front yard.
And that’s our first post!!
