Continuing our theme of checking small fixes and projects off our list while we’re in between big projects, we finally got around to do something we talked about when we moved in 2 years ago, replacing our window screens! No joke Mace’s dad bought us the screen material when he was down helping us move in. And over the years they have taken a beating since the back of our house gets so much direct sun in the afternoon. Here’s what they looked like before.
So Mace got out his tools and right to work! After removing the old screen he laid out the new screen slightly larger than the frame.
Then he pressed the rubber seal back in place over the new screen with the screen tool (I’m sure that’s not its official name!).
Then he pulled the screen taught before he did the same thing to the next side, until he had all 4 sides done.
After he trimmed the excess with a razor blade it was time for QC inspection.
And it passed!!! So proud of his work! After his first one he got the process down and it took him about 20 min. a screen and there were 4 to do.
Its hard to capture on a camera but here is an old and new screen next to each other to see the difference of clarity when looking through them.
And here is a new screen installed. The camera doesn’t capture the difference in the view but it is so much clearer when we look out of our windows into our backyard now! A small change but helps make our house feel more up to date!
